Special Iftar Turkish Buffet at Grand Cafe, Grand Hyatt Hotel Jakarta

There’s always special about this month especially for Moslem like me. This holy Ramadhan brought us not only a time to get closer to our God but also to get closer with our beloved family or friends during break fasting or sahoor time. No wonder, most of the restaurants in town race to provide a good deal of break fasting menu to facilitate people to gather with their family/friends in in this holy month. I am one of those persons who love to surf several restaurants during this Ramadan since I know some of them provide selections of unusual cuisines. Most talked restaurant this month is Grand Café at Grand Hyatt Hotel Jakarta. They have Special Iftar Turkish Buffet promotion during this Ramadan which for me was more than special.

What’s so special about them?

Talking about Turkish you might be familiar with some name of their authentic food. Let’s say Hummus, Babaganoush, Falafel, Baklava, Um Ali, etc. However, I didn’t find any of them in the Grand Café’s buffet. They serve another selections of Turkish food which is sounds unfamiliar for me but unexpectedly delicious! This Turkish buffet was hearty selected by Chef Yusuf Kizilirmak and Chef Emirhan Kurtcu from Hyatt Regency Istanbul Ataköy, together with Chef Selçuk Ayer from Grand Hyatt Istanbul. So. let's start the restaurant tour and see what's the Chef's brought to you!

Turkish food selections. Of course these are what we're waiting for. From starters to desserts, the Chefs prepare the best dishes to spoil our taste bud even for the first timer. I'm actually not a first timer, I've been visiting and testing several Turkey restaurants in town but what's Grand Cafe served to me this night was kinda new for my taste bud. Starting from their starters. There's selections of what they named with Mezze Set consist of Acili Ezme, Patlican Salatasi, Sucuk, Barbunya Pilaki, Pembe Sultan, Zeytinyagli Kereviz, Coban Salada and Pastrami. Sound unfamiliar, right? Yes, me too but all of the colorful starters in the plate was simply great things to start the dinner. I love the Pastrami btw. It's slice of beef that you could munch like a light snack.

For the maim course, Grand Cafe has also several selections of Turkish's main such as Mercimek Corbası, Kruton ve limon (lentil soup with croûtons and lemon), Fırında bütün kuzu, Iç Pilav (roasted whole lamb with oriental rice) and Dana Döner ve Garnetürleri (traditional beef döner kebab with condiments).

My favorite and I thought it's everyone's fav would be this one, Iç Pilav. The oriental rice was simply fragrant paired with a juicy and tender lamb. It's just a plate of heaven! A VERY MUST TRY!

And, don't forget to complete your dinner with Turkish desserts. It's not only the famous Baklava, Grand Cafe also serves several desserts such as Ekmek Kadayifi, Um Ali, Pear, etc.

Special Treat : Turkish Coffee

You won't also miss this one. If you a coffee lover, tasting this Turkish coffee is mandatory! This Turkish coffee including their beautiful-handcrafted coffee pot and cup was brought to you directly from Turkey. The taste would be like an espresso but not to bitter. FYI, after drink this coffee, you have to immediately drink a glass of water to neutralize the overall coffee flavor left in your mouth. It's great actually to end my dinner especially with an additional chit chat with the Chefs that Turkish people consume this coffee before sleep hihihi...

Well, it's not and end of the story. I believe you won't spend your money only for the Turkish buffet haha, you won't be regret if you're not try the other buffet in Grand Cafe, especially during this Ramadan. You will see this range of Tajil consist of small cakes, gorengan (Indonesian fried cakes) and selections of traditional kolak and mix ice.

Enjoy also delicious buffet of Italian, Indonesian and Asian food. From karedok to bakso to fresh seafood and the famous pecking duck and dim sum.
